Both the U.S. and Iran appear to be doubling down on their respective negotiation demands, stalling any previous progress that…
Even President Donald Trump’s media company couldn’t escape the Bitcoin bear market. In the second quarter of 2026, Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind businesses such as Truth Social and prediction market platform Truth Predict, reported a $238 million quarterly loss, according to its most recent quarterly report. More than $190 million came from declines in the value of the company’s Bitcoin, other digital assets, and stock holdings, rather than cryptocurrency sales—meaning the company primarily incurred paper losses that would be reversed if the crypto market bounces back. Trump Media began primarily as the corporate entity behind Truth…

Prices have gained more than 6% this week as hopes fade for a deal to increase ship traffic through Hormuz. The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, demanded the U.S. unfreeze Iranian funds held overseas as condition for Hormuz to open, according to Reuters. The oil market was weighing…
Here is one (partial) estimate of the higher cyber costs. I am not sure how many incidents they have in mind, but this seems to me quite realistic as an estimate but also rather modest relative to the Angst I am seeing? Not quite “a Gilda Radner thing,” but if nothing else shows the usefulness of trying to be concrete. Here is an estimate of $100 billion extra for the UK annually. That is estimated as a twenty percent increase in UK cyber costs. Also strikes me as plausible. Brad Carson uses AI agents (hurrah!) to produce estimates. He thinks…
